Although entries were well down this year, well done to the 5 Clubs in 105e, who used the opportunity to celebrate the artistic talents of the young people in our District. The Lions Clubs International Peace Poster is one way in which we, as Lions, can encourage young people to discuss ways peace can be achieved and give them the opportunity to express themselves in words and images which can be shared with others around the globe. Judges, DG Steve, VDG Guch and Lion Ravinder, had a difficult task deciding on the winner. Their final choice was the poster of Abbey Lawson sponsored by Matlock Derwent Lions Club. They felt that her work best depicted the theme Kindness Matters. Abbey summed up her thought by saying:-“ Release the kindness in your heart and allow freedom to flourish like the cherry blossom.” The Special Needs Poster winner was Luke Jones, sponsored by Loughborough Lions Club. Thank you to all the Clubs who submitted entries and congratulations to all those who took part. Next year’s theme will be out in February and will be circulated as soon as I receive it! We hope that we can encourage more Clubs in the District to take part in this worthwhile initiative.
